About UNN Cut Off Marks for admission
- UNN cut-off mark is based on your JAMB score and UNN post UTME score. When you add both scores and divide the result by 2, you will get what UNN calls an aggregate score. It is the aggregate score that UNN uses to give admission. It’s also the aggregate score that you will see as the departmental cut-off mark.
- The lowest aggregate score UNN does accept is 180. This means even if UNN minimum jamb and post utme score is 160, you must still have at least an average of 180 for you to be admitted.
- UNN cut-off marks change each year. Sometimes the changes aren’t much, but if there is a mass failure, the departmental cut-off marks for that year will be very low.
- In UNN, you can gain admission through Merit, Catchment, Educationally-Less-Developed-States (ELDS), Supplementary( otherwise called Shopping).
- The UNN First Admission List contains only candidates admitted only through merit, catchment, and ELDS. Other candidates get admitted to the second list downward.
- ELDS as the name implies, are educationally less developed states in Nigeria. States like Gombe, Kano, Kaduna, etc. The Federal government of Nigeria mandated schools in the country to give preferential treatment to students from ELDS. Hence their cut-off marks are lower than others.
- Catchment States are states that are geographically within UNN. States like Enugu, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, etc.
- The departmental cut-off marks for ELDS and Catchment states are usually lower than merit cut off marks.
- If you have a wrong JAMB subject combination, even if you meet your departmental cut-off mark, you won’t be admitted into UNN.
- If you reach your department’s cut-off mark and have the accurate subject combination, you will definitely be admitted into UNN. See UNN school fees.
UNN Departmental Cut-off Marks for All Courses
Each year many students apply to study at UNN. This avalanche of people needing admission into the university is usually much that there is need for another measure to reduce the number of candidates who should apply for the post-utme and also those who will expect admission into their desired courses. In a bid to reduce this number, UNN usually will fix a score generally as the benchmark upon which only those who scored it or above should hope for post-utme. In the same way, the University also pegs a score for giving admission into each courses in the univeristy. This scores used as benchmarks are the UNN cut-off marks.
The UNN department cut-off mark for admission into each courses in the univeristy is obtained from candidates’ aggregate scores (a combination of JAMB & UNN post-utme). The UNN departmental cut-off mark is the final mark that will determine a candidate’s admission.
The departmental cut-off marks for the 2025/2026 session is not yet out. UNN does not usually officially release its departmental cut-off marks. But we have a reliable source in the school admission office and usually get all the accurate cut-off marks.
