JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Polytechnics

2025 JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Polytechnics, Universities, & College of Educations

2025 JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Polytechnics, Universities, & College of Educations is something everyone that sat for this year’s JAMB exam should know. Currently, JAMB has approved the 2025 JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination cut off mark as 150 for both federal and state Universities, 140 for Polytechnics, and 100 for Colleges of Education.

As different institution continue to prepare for admission this year and with the successful completion of this year’s Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam, the board has announced the official 2025 cut off mark for all institutions including universities, polytechnics and colleges of education to help students know their fate.

However, you will need to understand that this cut-off mark simply means the lowest score that can be considered by any institution in Nigeria for admission. Some schools can adjust their cut-off mark higher to ensure that only students or applicants who merit admission are given. Therefore, you may need to see our post on different cut-off marks for both federal universities and State Universities.

JAMB plays a vital role in the admission process for Nigerian tertiary institutions, and one crucial aspect that candidates must understand is the JAMB cut-off marks for different institutions. JAMB cut-off marks is the minimum scores required by candidates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be eligible for admission into various institutions across Nigeria.

JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede has instructed that all institutions must not offer admission to candidates who do not score up to the cut off mark. Therefore, any student who did not score up to the cut-off mark cannot be admitted into any institution in Nigeria.

Important Notice

However, it is important to note that you need to score very high to gain admission into highly competitive courses like; Engineering Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture, Accounting, Nursing and other professional courses.

This is because a lot of candidates apply for these professional courses and the institution has a specific number of students to be admitted each year.

FAQs

What is 2025 JAMB cut-off mark for universities?

For the 2025 admissions cycle, JAMB set the minimum national cut-off mark for universities at 150, meaning no university can admit candidates below this score. However, note that many institutions—especially competitive or federal ones—set their own departmental cut-offs above this baseline. For example, top-tier courses such as Medicine, Law, and Engineering may require scores between 200 and 280, depending on the university and course competitiveness.

What is JAMB 2025 cut-off mark for polytechnics?

The national minimum cut-off for polytechnics in 2025 is 140. This is the lowest score a polytechnic can accept, but many polytechnics may choose to adopt higher thresholds, often ranging between 120 and 150, depending on the institution’s own standards.

What is JAMB 2025 cut-off mark for colleges of education?

Similarly, JAMB mandates that the lowest allowable UTME score for admission into colleges of education is 100. Just like polytechnics, individual colleges may set their own higher cut-off marks based on demand and internal admission policies.

Is JAMB 2025 cut-off marks for all institutions out?

Yes and no. The national benchmarks—140 for universities, 100 for polytechnics and colleges of education—have been officially released. However, individual institutions often release their specific departmental or institutional cut-off marks after JAMB’s release. Many universities and polytechnics publish their own thresholds, which can vary significantly above the national minimums. Therefore, while the JAMB-wide figures are out, you should also check specific institutions for their particular cut-off marks.

Can I buy the 2026 JAMB UTME form if I didn’t score up to 140?

Yes! Your UTME score doesn’t affect your ability to register for the next year’s UTME. Each year is independent. If you scored below 140 in the 2025 exam, you’re still fully eligible to purchase and sit for the 2026 UTME until the annual registration deadline. Your past score will not block you from trying again.

Is JAMB 2025 cut-off mark the same for all institutions?

Yes, it is the same for all institutions.
